This is what a 2000 2.5 Dakota efan looks like

Thanks. Do you think I could take the blade and motor from a new one and attach it to the current shroud?

I think the best is to try and fab a newer efan to the old shroud so the newer efan bolts up to it I think it will work as that thing is thick metal it may not be a perfect fit but should do if not remove the old shroud and fab some kind of custom cross bars to make it work.

If you are good at that kind of thing it shouldn’t be too hard to do a good old school auto shop could do it for you but at a heavy price I’m thinking around $200 labor to fab something for you

Check on this forum on info on efan conversions there should be a few or do a search online many are on there these conversions should give you some ideas on what you can do

I did a search efan just look for one done on a 2nd gen Dakota

I found this one https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen-dakota/273841-diy-2nd-gen-dakota-efan-upgrade-with-a-taurus-3-8l-efan.html

You shouldn’t need any extra wiring or other stuff just plug the new style in and it should work

No that will not work The one I showed you should work as it is made for a 2nd gen Dakota like the newer 2000 2.5 picturs

All you need to do is make a custom mount for the newer efan and it should connect to the old efan power connector also so less mod's are needed

I will say I have not done this yet so some of this is what I think should work so proced at your own risk

I will say one thing the older 2.5 Dakotas were designed to only cool by efan so you shouldn’t need to make any custom relay wiring to get the new efan to work just plug in the new fan. On a 2.5 the PCM has programing in it to kick in the efan as needed for cooling. Most modified older Dakotas need to wire in a relay and other stuff to get it to work

So all you should need to do is plug in the new efan and it should work you just need to fab some way to mount it that’s all
