Engine noise
So ever since I got back from Florida, Ive had this noise when I start up cold. It sounds like its coming from the driver side exhaust manifold and goes away or gets a little quieter when it warms up. I haven't noticed any power loss or anything different at all, but I'd really like to know what it is. Any help is appreciated.
You can check for exhaust leaks by holding a piece of vacuum hose to your ear and using the other end like a stethoscope to listen all around your exhaust manifold. When you find the spot that's leaking, you'll hear it very clearly.
Or you can just change it. It's a relatively easy job (unless the bolts break when you try to remove them).

ha, so i was going to do it yesterday but i jacked it up and was looking at the heat shield bolts. the upper rear was already sheered off. ever heard of a bolt sheering off by itself or should i be making a call the the dealership where i bought it.
Yes they can just snap off by themselves it happens more than you think usually they were tightened too much to start with or with age they can snap off

Good old rust. My heat shields have done the same thing but shields themselves are shot. Price them at $45 for the pair. So I have decided not to replace them. Looking at some sort of wrap and maybe just paint them.
