Default Just got myself a 98 dakota

Well after being a mustang guy I finnally decided to buy a truck, so I picked myself up a 1998 dakota 5.2 with 111,000 miles. Heres the truck, but I have one question that has been bothering me

Do they make snorkel kits for these trucks? Or what have you guys with snorkels done?? Thanks!

Nice! Good looking DAK!

Bad news is that there isn't really a commercially available snorkel kit. You can, however, do something like this:

http://www.off-road.com/trucks-4x4/p...oject1525.html

FYI, if you're looking for this truck to be a hardcore, rock crawler, you're going to have to change a few things.

Do this before you do anything else: Check your rear differential for metal and/or damage. The LSD clutches on thes things have been known to lose retention, thus putting metal and debris in your diff. If that's something you've got, I suggest you install a Detroit Tru-track, ARB locker, or some other type of locking rear axle. If you plan on going to places where you would need a snorkel, you want to make sure your rear end is "good to go".

Way ahead of ya haha

At least sort of haha.. I'll be installing some recovery points on the fram soon (hooks in the front, tow hitch in the back), Gotta ditch the K&N intake the last owner put on there. Replaced the rear diff already, and transmission is new. Gonna be adding a 3 inch lift in the front, 2 in the back (damn ifs makes everything more too expensive) Also gonna be upping to 32"s when i get new tires after the lift.

Awesome! You're on the right path...

What are you going to do up front? Do you plan on leaving the torsion bar suspension system, or are you going to do something else? It's okay, but not really the best option for hard-core wheeling...

You dont need to buy anything to lift the front if you are just putting on 32's. I cranked my torsion bars and I put on 32in bfg at's. They rubbed during full lock but that is never used during normal driving. The rub was minimal anyway.
