How does one get it back in? I had to beat it out with a hammer, went to put it backj in...it's like 1/4-1/2" wider than the inside of the frame rails, where it came from.

Da heck?

I've not looked at mine but if its like my dads 97 1500 its kinda wedges out at the top. When we replaced his he had to put in in at a angle and beat it back in. I was a royal pain in the a**.

And you need a bigger hammer to beat it back in.

My crossmember is modified now for driveshaft clearance, so it fits properly. But I remember what a PITA it was before.

We ended up sticking his in at a angle and beating it back into place. That was the only way we could think of to get it back in without dismantling the truck.
