Default Transfer Case Leak

I have a 97 Dakota with the NV231HD transfer and i recently replaced the extension housing rear output seal but i am still getting transfer case fluid out through it. I can tell its coming off that because i see that its being spun off the drive train onto the whole truck underneath.. Is there another seal inside the housing that i may have missed that would allow that fluid to bypass the bearing in there and allow it into the extension housing? I was going to just try and replace the seal again and see if maybe it was just a bad seal.. Any input would be awesome .Thanks

Sounds like your bushing may be worn. If the shaft wobbles around too much, even a new seal won't be able to keep the oil in.

I had that problem and took a magnifying glass to the end of the drive shaft where it slides in and saw that I had tiny burr that would cut the seal when I put it in. Cleaned it up, replaced the seal and haven't had a problem since.

how far up thought should i set the bushing? It looks like there is a rib on the seal for how far the bushing should be pushed up?
