Default Help fixing reclining lever

Hi Friends

My 2003 Dakota SXT has an issue with its passenger side seat lever.

The lever itseld is fine but the plastic cog it fit onto is stripped smooth. Worse, it broke and came off the mechanism that works the seat recline.

The part is is plastic tube about 9 inches long and fits into something under the seat. I cannot see where it connects and believe the seat has to come out for the part ot be replaced.

Does anyone have experience with this process. More important does anyone know where to find that plastic piece? Is it a dealer only item?

Any help is appreciated.

i haven't messed with that before, but it does sound like something that you have the pull the seat out for. at it would make it easier to work on.

as for the part. with the age of our trucks. dealer might now carry it any more. which means you will have better luck looking through salvage yards.
