Default interior - head liner

The head liner in my 2002 Dakota is starting to come apart. I called my local dealer and it is no longer available. Does any one know where I might be able to find one?

Go to a shop specializing in upholstery and see if there is anything you like. You could go original, vinyl, etc.

upholstery shop can do it no problem. You can also read up online and do it yourself.

Not too bad to do it yourself. It's just a matter of getting the backing board out. Take all the trim off, the dome light, and anything else holding headliner up. Take out headliner. Scrape foam off backing board. Get whatever fabric or headliner you want, then use 3M Super 77 adhesive to bond the new headliner material to the backing board. Then reinstall all trim and you're done. I went with a camo fabric cause it was cheap and different.

Contact cement works great too, especially if you live where it gets real hot. Spray glue will work but it will not hold up to excessive heat and humidity, so the headliner will eventually fall back down again sooner or later. Whether using spray glue or contact cement be sure to follow the directions on the can, apply it kind of thick but not too thick of a coat and let it set up good and tacky before putting the pieces back together. If possible let the truck sit in the sun for a day or two with the windows rolled down, to let the fumes out.

I will be doing my own headliner some time soon, it is starting to flake and peel off just in the area near the top of my front windshield.

Yeah I did just the same as dirtbiker did. A wire brush works great for getting the old foam off. I went with camo as well

most upholtery shops will recover it for around $100ish, if you take it out. they will use glue that has a release temp well above 250F. yes, easy to do yourself if yall have the time.....i did.

Go to Stockinteriors.com You can purchase the cloth and glue in a kit and replace it yourself. I did my headliner in my 2002 dakota and it wasn't hard at all.
