Oh rest assured that I NEVER install plugs without anti-sieze.
Back in my younger days I would have torn into the engine immediately but now my job keeps me away from the house for up to 3 weeks at a time. With only a weekend at home. It would take me two months to put it back together.
I have a wife of 18 years at home and I am trying to keep it that way!
Thanks for all the kind words and suggestions. But my baby(my truck..lol) left on a rollback this morning and I miss her already.

Just an update.
Stopped by the shop yesterday and they already had the head over at the machine shop. The guys at the machine shop seem to think that they can remove the old plug and easy out without damaging the original threads. That would be great but I'm not holding my breath on that one.
The dealer was doing their best to get me to buy a 2013 1500. No thanks..that thing wouldnt fit in my garage, not to mention the 40k price tag.

I certainly don't plan to trade my truck any time soon. Just because I had a little setback doesn't mean I'm ready to get rid of it. Besides I love my Dakota. It's just right..

I have a seized #1 plug in my truck now. It also had a crushed head shield up against it keeping me from fitting a socket over the plug. Once I finally got past the heat shield issue, I found that the #1 plug was seized in. it's still firing, for now, which is good but I'm glad that I read this thread so I know what I'm look at when it decides to stop working.

Best of luck!

If it is still firing you could try putting some pb blaster on it and just keep doing that for several days or even weeks and maybe it would break loose. Mine blew apart while I was driving so I didn't have that opportunity. Be careful and maybe you can avoid what I have had to go through. Good luck

I would think PB Blaster would be too light and the head too hot to try to let it penetrate while using it. I would think it would burn off (heck.. 10-40 would burn off).. but perhaps Marvel Mystery Oil (wintergreen oil) might have a chance between working with the heat and being baked off. Plus.. your engine will smell like a breath mint!

Good luck!

Possibly but the main thing I was getting at is that if he starts trying to free it up now it might break free by the time the plug goes completely dead on him.

The shop called today and said my truck was ready. A little more than the original estimate but I actually expected that. $1275.00 but they kept the original threads and no damage at all to the head.

I wouldn't bother with PB Blaster. Get some Kroil (I think NAPA carries it) and soak the plug with that. Among the m/c crowd, Kroil has a good reputation.
