2000 Dakota 4wd code P1776 and 4wd issue
Hi all,
Yesterday up in the woods, I had some trouble in 4WD - loss of power - no bump/slip shift - just ramped up RPM's to get uphill (not steep) - like 3500 rpms and very little going forward.
I smelled a bunch of various hot smells ranging from radiator to a bit of oil, etc. but nothing strange.
No dripping tranny or differentials (or anything else).
Engine showed normal range heat, and there is a tranny cooler too (for towing trailer).
After letting it cool down a bit, it showed no more issues in 2wd - I didn't try 4wd on way down because I was 20 miles from highway ;-)
Check engine light came one when it occurred, and it posted code P1776: Solenoid Switch Valve lathed in LR position.
I just recently had the entire valve/solenoid body replaced (December).
This was because of some bump/slip shifting which it seemingly solved at the time.
Anyway - I am going to a new transmission guy (the current shop does NOT give me the warm-and-fuzzies) and was hoping any input or similar experiences might help me help him, explain it, other things to think of or mention, etc.
thanks a lot if you have anything to add or think about !
