Default tire width

I bought my Dakota with the 31X10.5-15 tires instead of the narrower 235/75-15 that the factory provides. Given the power steering issues with the Dakota's, would it be wise to replace the wider tires with narrower 235/75-15 tires?
I was thinking that if the truck had less rubber on the road, the power steering system would not be strained as much.
I have steel racks on the front and over the cab and bed to haul building materials, so the trucks heavier than normal. Additionally, the roads where I work in Costa Rica are full of pot holes. Gracias for your suggestions. TR

This is the Durango section. You would need to ask this in the Dakota section.

You can also get 31" from the factory as an option so I wouldn't worry about it.

Most members here without a lift will run 31" tires or the metric equivalent.

This is the DodgeForum.com > Dodge Trucks > Dodge Dakota > 2nd Gen Dakota section, not the Durango section

It was moved after my post to the correct section from the Durango section.
