Default 99 Dakota

On my 99 Dakota, interior lights, dash lights, and cargo light are all on same dial....Yet, when I turn the dial to brighten dash lights, the interior lights come on immediately....There's no "play" room to turn dash lights on.
Replaced whole switch assembly...Same problem, what am I missing????
Any ideas???

Post a Pic of the switch some years had a separate wheel thing for diming the dash lights others it was the switch like you say and you had to twist the **** till it popped try twisting it harder both ways till it pops

Is it like this one?

Hey thanks for a response...

Yes, it is EXACYLY like the one in the pic...Even "rounded off", and not a corner on one end.

The headlights, parking and fog lights are all on the switch. To get the fog lights to work of course, you have to pull out the switch.

The problem is with that dial.....The dash lights all work, but they're very minimal. As you turn the dial to brighten them, the interior lights come on.....The dash brightens too. but like I say do the interior lights......
Confusing to me
