Default Transmission rebuildt now truck wont start

OK i believe i know what the issue is. But i was wanting some others input, maybe you have done the same thing.
I didn't watch the Crank Sensor close enough, so i did smash it wired between the bell housing and engine. But i have got the crank sensor out and also got the connector, minus the foot of wire between the two. So i'm gonna splice it (I do it for a living so it'll work).
So my question is would that keep the engine from starting? More specific ------ would that keep the fuel pump from supplying fuel to the engine? because i don't hear the pump running when i turn the key to the on position, i usually do.
Thanks in advance!!

It will definitely keep the engine from starting. Not sure about the fuel pump thing.

OK!!! For the record the crank sensor does keep the fuel pump from pumping. So relieved!
