The engines Id have put in are not remanufactured. They are used.

I was told he found one with 200,000 kms for $700 and one with 110,000 kms for $1500 .

I'm leaning towards rebuilding it myself noe with friends and my neighbour.

Gotta watch if sucked in water/dirt might of mess up things and scored everything. Honestly throwing in a used engine shoudnt cost that much. Pretty much take the old one out and put the new one in. Could be easily done in a weekend.

The last one I replaced (2001 Dakota, 3.9 V6, Auto) took me 8 hours working by myself. It's just not that bad of a job.

The truck is nearly worthless if it doesn't run. But it's worth good money if it does. To me, it makes sense to fix it.

If you have to ask, you wouldn't understand.

You gotta pay to play.

Anyway I think what were gonna do is tear down the existing engine and see how bad it really is. If it is just a crank bearing I'll buy a master rebuild kit and take an adventure.

If everything was scored or pitted I'll throw in a used engine.

I just don't wanna throw in a high mileage engine in such a low mileage truck.

I'll let you guys know.

Yep. I bought a 99 Jeep off the showroom floor and within 2 weeks had it buried up to the half doors. People thought I was nuts but that's what they are designed for!

Keep us posted..

July 23 Update

I picked up a 02 Toyota corolla to get me around. Thing is made of tinfoil but I've never gotten so much gas mileage in my life.

Truck is sitting in my garage and the tranny is acting up. Itll buck and stutter in first gear and once it warms up till refuse to start in first. It gets stuck in 2nd. Throwing a code for the Governor Pressure solenoid so I've bought that and the transducer and will replace both this week providing it comes in tomorrow like promised.

If it solves my tranny issue I'll be replacing the engine. If not I'll be selling her.

Having a hell of a time finding an engine with decent mileage. No luck on a rebuilt one.

Will give another update sometime this week.

Damn that sucks! I got lucky I guess i went through my paw-paw in law's pond.. burried the truck; she went through it like it was nothing. Brother in law (which is one of those he wants to be better than everyone else) was hoping I'd get stuck.. Had pond weeds and pond skum over everything even found it inside my intake.. not sure if i did suck in water but it sure looked like it.. water level was over the top of the hood.. when i went through and spent a week getting all the vegetation off my truck.
