You said the "lock" just stopped working. Is it just one that stopped working or did both stop working? The reason that I ask is that if its just one the lock just may have gone bad.

it could be the switch or the actuator depending on if only one works or not.

****ing actuators. I just replaced my driver's side rear last night, and I did the driver's side front when I first got the truck, but if the actuator was starting to go bad, it makes this wonderful... Noise... its like VVVRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTTTT and it annoys the **** outta you... But they are easy to do after you do one more than once, but the 1st time is a bitch, only took me 20 minutes last night in a tighter area. Go mechanics skillz yhoz!

I think the actuator in my gf Mazda is going bad. Its making that noise. Its really annoying. I guess I'm gonna have to fix that.
