1997 Dakota Stalled Guages Won't Work
Hello, Everyone:
I have a 1997 Dodge Dakota SLT with 200,000 miles (I know, that's a lot of miles!!!). I was driving home from work last night and all of a sudden, the engine cut out/came to a complete stall, no hesitation, just stalled. I tried to restart it, the ignition would turn (I've ruled out battery and starter) but it would start. I did notice that when I did leave the ignition key in the "On" position, all of my guages didn't work (when I've put it in the "On" position before starting the car before, I'd get all of my guage readings) and the "Gas pump" light would come on and the odometer would flicker the mileage reading off and on. I have no idea where to start. Please help??? Thank you in advance.......

The same thing happened to my 02 Dakota. I had mechanic look at it, he couldn't figure out problem. I ordered computer online for $260, installed it per seller's instructions and it solved my problem. Truck runs like new. Trick is, you CAN'T use a used computer. It has to be a NEW (rebuilt) one, and has to be PRE PROGRAMMED for your specific VIN #. Couple of places on ebay sells pre programmed computers and it only takes about ten minutes to install it. Good luck!
