Engine light on for 6+ years
I received a 2004 3.7 v6 magnum dakota from my step father.
He said the engine light has been on for 6 or more years.
I got a garage to scan it, and they told me it's my "charco box".
if it's lasted this long, should I even bother getting it checked? I don't even know where or what a charco box is lol.

Sounds like the charcoal canister it could be one of the connections are cracked or popped off.
Look under the truck just behind the drivers side seat close to the gas tank check all the connections for cracks or off lines or it could be the tank is cracked/damaged
This is for emissions control EPA for smog to capture gas fumes stop gas fumes from escaping into the air.
