Default Welded water pump?? REPLACED!!

Has anyone ever seen one like this? The welds are pretty decent but not exactly what I wanted to see. Glad to be replacing it.

could it be the weld is there to hold the plate? if you make a plate to cover the impelors and rivet it you will flow more water. but check that the rivets clear the main housing when put on.

It looks to be a high quality fix I guess in the out back wilderness you make due with what you have.

That looks nothing like the water pump from my 99, mine had more blades, was aluminum 1 piece, this looks as if the pump is pressed into the metal housing and was welded due to a leak maybe? TBH that pump looks nicer stronger and more robust then my pump did.

Not sure if it was a reman or not. it looked to be though. It was on the truck when I got it. It's GONE now, sitting in a box as my core at the parts store. Everything went back together and she is up and running now. A new water pump, timing chain and gears, 195 T-Stat and housing, serpentine belt, and radiator cap! And as a bonus the heater seems to be pumping out higher temps now. Bit by bit she is coming up to daily driver standards for my 16 year old daughter.
