Well my quote were in the 1000s for each cam to be made, no one carries cores for it anymore. As a heads up for all comp cams can no longer manufacturer (that what the sales dude told me) H/O or custom cams for the 4.7. They don't have the cores for them.

I'm in the middle of working a deal that if pans out and I fix the mistakes I made in paypal/ebay screw ups. I might have just bought a set of 4.7 H/O cams, those won't be put in until winter break (December-January, for those that want photos or results). Which if happens, shall be freaking epic. I already am excited for the idea of a 300+ hp motor.

The 4.7L has I think a-symmetrical cam size or design something

If you really want details on it, I highly suggest talking with Nick from AirRam.

As for a thread update, some of the stuff has been cut out or substituted, parts ordered:

2005-07 intake manifold~ $132.00
H/O cams~ $437.00 (still waiting for shipping info)
22 lbs balanced injectors~ $320.00
Line Pressure Booster~ $55.00
180 degree Thermostat~ $43.00

Substituted item(not sure at the moment), 4.56 differential gears~ $445.00

Edits: Redline is being changed to 5700 not 6000 rpm, this is because of injectors and PCM programming cost

Removed items: CAI, breakaway torque converter, electric fan conversion
Reasoning for these are that they are cost-ineffective

For those saying the 2008+ intake is a better choice, my answer to you is "yes it is better", however the cost for that and an adapter is over $500 dollars! I'm in college and well a $400 dollar difference for 10-15 hp over the 05-07 is not an acceptable investment. With the money saved, I was able to afford H/O cams which offer 20-30 hp gains.

That's it for the update, I hope to start getting some photos posted in about a month.

Doesn't matter. They start with a 2" diameter (or so) piece of bar stock, and feed it to the lathe. Even the distributor gear on ours is 1 piece with the cam, off the CNC machine. Not sure if the drive sprockets would be or not. I've seen elsewhere on the interwebs that Bullet made a couple 4.7 cam sets.

It's worth an inquiry.

I understand and thank you for the advice, but for now I'm more then content with the H/O cams I've purchased. I actually sent a request for info to them on Friday and haven't gotten a reply back yet.

I just checked the boxes my KRC 212x cams came in. They were from Crane. Maybe they still have some blanks?

DakinUK, I found your company, thank you though. I didn't see it as an option unfortunately. Alright anyways so I'm reviving this old thread to give anyone who was interested a heads up.

The Dakota is going in on Thursday for it's exhaust job. It's going to be a custom, 2.25" down-pipe > 3" y-pipe collector > 3" in/out high flow cat > 3" in/out 14 inch Magnaflow muffler > 3" out the back dumping down behind the bumper. A shop is doing it all so I will only have after photos and I can make a sound recording if yall want.

Then this weekend with my father helping me, I'm hopefully in a single day going to get it done. The list is: install the H/O cams, swap the injectors, swap the new intake manifold, replace the thermostat and inserting the new Sonnax line booster. Other stuff will be reflashing the PCM (I have a superchip), new redline of 6,200 rpm because I've got 24 lbs injectors, and an oil change. All the photos and details I take, will hopefully be posted before Thanksgiving for yall to enjoy. Oh ya, I'm going to make the photos and what not a new thread, so that it is clean and is easy to find if anyone searches for it.

I'm excited
I guess I'll see yall with a completed build thread next week. To us college student, good luck with getting everything done for Thanksgiving break, to everyone I hope yall have a good rest of the week.

Default Interested in getting the 5-45rfe to work

I have a 2004 Dakota 4x4 with the 4.7 as well. Was sent a 5-45rfe instead of 45 rfe and am really interested in what needs to be done to make it work, and is their any benefit?

currently running a 2005 4.7 with 206 cams and other small upgrades, 125 shot of nos. motor now has 200000 miles on her, still kicks *** and never been rebuilt. treat them right and don't go over board, they last. people laugh at me when I race, but I make a great payday. get intouch with Ryan Hogan at fly'n Ryan performance, if you have facebook he has a page. great guy and can help you out
