I've been wanting to change out my valve cover gaskets and get some spiffy new valve covers. Are the cast black Mopar Performance valve covers for the 318/5.2 interchangeable or are there specific ones to fit our Magnum motors? Is it a clearance issue, bolt pattern or breather location?
I know they range wildly in price depending on application..

I know the head studs are different between LA and Magnum. Not sure if valve covers are too.

 

Just from memory, they are different. Magnum valve covers use fewer studs. Just fyi, you can look it up yourself on Rockauto, look up valve cover gaskets for known Magnum engines--like a 95, Dakota 5.2 and a known LA engine like a 90 Ram 5.2, and visually spot the differences. Rockauto is good for things other than just less expensive parts.

 

The Magnum valve covers have 10 bolts per cover, not sue how many the LA 5.2 have.
