Default Electric fan size?

Ok my clutch fan is bad and a buddy has a 14" electric fan he would give me. My question is would this be a big enough fan to replace the job of my clutch fan? Also would I put it in front of or behind the radiator and how do I know which way to face it so it would be pulling? Also can I just wire it strait into a toggles switch.

Not enough fan.

And a simple toggle switch wouldn't last very long. (it would fry.)

Fan clutches aren't very expensive. Just buy a new one and replace the bad one.

Or do the due diligence and do an e-fan conversion correctly--there are lots of threads on this forum that cover the how-to's.

Your buddies free fan could end up being very expensive.

fans can come in different sizes but anything that is going to cool that V8 is going to suck ALOT of juice. Some people use the Crown Vic set up but I would just put in a new clutch and be done . Under fifty bucks and one hour labor. Electrics need 40 amp relays, heavy gauge wire, fuses and some type of switch. Thermostat or toggle . I have thought about it but it doesn't make much sense.

I have a 75 amp relay and 80 amp slow-blow MAXI fuse for my mark 8 fan. The motor actually stumbles when it starts up (mark 8 has a 100-120 amp inrush current) because there's not enough power to fire the spark plugs against the loaded up alternator.

Wow, so your vote would be clutch? What do you think your cost has come to for your conversion?

$10 for relay, 50 for the fan, $8 for 10 gauge wire spool
