Default Transmission Whine

97 Dodge Dakota 3.9 auto trans, when in gear there is a whining noise coming from my transmission, sounds a lot like a bad power steering pump. The noise gets louder with rpm's, can be heard inside the truck while driving and outside of the truck when stopped. It goes away as soon as you put it in park or neutral. I flushed the transmission 5-6 months ago and did the filter at the same time. The level is spot on and the fluid is not burnt or discolored. I rebuilt the trans about 40,000 ago. Ive looked all over online and it seems like a fair amount of people have experienced the same problem but no one is saying what fixed, looked up tsb's and found nothing. The trans is shifting fine and everything only thing noticeable is the noise. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
