Default Mounting a gun safe in a 2004 Dakota QC?

Hello everyone,
I need some help, recommendations. I am trying to mount a http://www.bulldogcases.com/case-vau...roducts_id=254 gun safe in my 2004 Dakota QC. I would prefer to mount it under my 40% rear seat but because of the molded carpeting it will not allow the seat to drop down into place. The dimensions on the safe are 10.75"x6.5"x2.5". The safe has a design where it has a bracket that you mount and the safe slides in and out.

Is there a way to drop the seat back forward or are they locked into a channel to allow the seat bottoms to fold up? I have contemplated cutting the carpet out under the seat but I would really prefer not to.

Any help or advice would really be appreciated!

Thanks,
Dave

I'm having. Trouble understanding why you want a gun safe in your truck. Why don't you just put it in the console or glovebox if you don't have it on your person?

Sorry, I can't think of a way to get something that big under there.

I cant speak for quad cabs, but have you considered behind the rear seats?

Cutting the carpet won't do you any good. The floors have a bunch of pits and moulds so you won't gain any extra room.

Why not front seat? How often do you leave your gun in your truck?

Looks like the op was a clear case of ask and run. 3 weeks and no reply.

I don't quite understand the need for a gun safe in the truck, either. I have no kids in the house, so I don't even have a gun safe in here. I store my one automatic with a loaded mag, none in the chamber, holstered in my sock drawer. The only time it's in the truck is if I'm on my way to the range--then it's fully unloaded and holstered. And I live in a fairly basic open and concealed carry state and carry it on the passengers seat, where it's fully visable. If I got stopped with it in the truck, I'd be very quick to declare it to the LEO.

It seems to me that the logical solution for the o.p., tho, is to actually just hide the weapon in the vehicle--maybe behind or under the rear seat? My 96 Club cab has these really nifty little lockers under the rear seat for carrying the jack and such on one side and other stuff on the driver's side. Maybe add hasps and padlocks?

I'm guessing the OP wants to secure his gun when he goes someplace that doesn't allow firearms and needs to leave it in the truck. I wouldn't want to leave mine just stuck under the seat or someplace, in case somebody broke in.

I would personally do a toolbox outfitted with a Gun rack inside.

That's why you get a membership to the NRA they cover firearms up to 2,500.00(depending on membership) from fire, theft or loss.

My personal choice is a Tuffy center console.
