Default Soft gas pedal when cold

Hi I have a 2001 Dodge Dakota 4x4 3.9 V6 with a automatic transmission and 74000 miles. When it’s cold and I step on the gas the gas pedal gets soft and it will not shift out of second. If your driving down the road and you step on the gas and it down shifts it want’s to stay in second until you stop and move the shifting lever back and forth between park and low a few times. When the truck is warm it doesn’t seem to do this. Is this a sign that the transmission is going out? Has anyone else had this trouble? Thank you for any help.

temperature shouldn't affect the weight of the pedal, unless something on the TV cable down in the trans is getting hung up until the case expands?

cables can go bad. pick a cable and disconnect one end try moving things around, and see what you get. on the TV cable be sure it gets back the way it was set or your shifting will be off. just my idea.

If the "feel" of the pedal itself is changing I don't really have any ideas on that. Seems odd.

But has the transmission fluid ever been changed?

well idk about yall but i knowthree days ago it was 30 below here and nothing wanted to shift because the fluid was cold and thick and na.. na.. na.. so what im saying is how cold are we talking maybe its shifting funny because the fluid is cold and it does what all cold fluid does and moves slow until its warm. also the soft pedel it seems as if your just dealing with a cold start up. and maybe getting a few magnet block heaters and putting one on the trans and motor and seeing if that helps may open some doors for you.
