Default Clunk While Slowly Braking

Bet you guys are getting sick of me now eh?

Anyway - new problem that's been happening for about a week now.

Basically it only happens when you're going very slow 5-10 mph and disappears after 5 mmins of driving. I noticed it will clunk noticeably but only while braking. I swear it was coming from the driver side rear wheel but I had my girlfriend drive with me and she said she felt it under her feet.

What could cause a clunk while braking slowly (like reversing out of a parking spot) and then just disappear? It almost feels like the brakes grab and don't let go for 2 or 3 seconds.

Any ideas?

I forgot to ask if it could be a loose brake caliper?

My passenger side caliper had the threads of one of the slider pins stripped so I put an oversized one in and it seemed to bite well.

Just like to get any other ideas such as a ujoint or possibly tranny related.

Thanks

I had a very similar problem with a bad clunk from my front end when backing out of my driveway or a parking spot. It was a bad left front stabilizer bar end link.

It doesn't happen when turning, just when braking slowly for the first 5 mins. Then it disappears and you can brake as slowly as you want.

Almost feels as if something in the rear is binding up.

Do you have rear disc brakes? If so then check your little drum brakes in the rear that are used for the parking brake. The brake linings delaminate and fall off of the backing and then clunk around inside the little drum when going slow and with a momentum change, like braking. Probably doesn't happen when going fast because of centrifugal force, but when going slow they roll around in there.

Happened to me right after I bought mine. They are easy to replace, although for such small linings they are surprisingly expensive, I think I paid about $75 just for the linings.

I have drum brakes in the rear and my parking brake hasn't worked for 2 years hahaha.

It'll only happen when I first start driving then completely disappear no matter how slow I stop. Really strange...

I'll definitely crawl under there this weekend if its not too cold.

Issued a frostbite warning in my area today so forget that!

Happy New Year's Eve boys.

It went from 1 clunk to now 2 when braking slowly ONLY and ONLY when driving the truck after its been parked overnight.

I've inspected the driveshafts, all 4 brakes, tested it out in 4wd, I am stumped.

I refuse to take it to the mechanic as i AM NOT putting anymore money into this thing unless its a safety issue.

I'm at a loss. Does it for the first 2-5 mins of stopping then it disappears completely.
