New to the forum and look forward to reading all the helpful tips and tricks. I have some different problems I'm having with my Dakota. 119,000K
I have owned the truck since 2003
I don't take photos very often, so I don't have a pic of my truck at hand.
Anyway, I look forward to helping where I can.
Radio Infiniti system. (Just curious)
I think the amp is bad. the volume will only go so far and the levels off no matter how far the volume is turned. no matter if its cd or radio. this has been the case since I bought it.
Sputtering occasionally and poor gas mileage
Intermittent
I can drive it and stop. Let it sit for 1-6 hours and when I take of, it acts as though its sucking air. the truck will spit and sputter and then will all of a sudden be fine. I can drive it for hours.
Background
About two years ago the check engine light came on. I changed the vacuum hoses PCV, wires etc. the engine light went off for a while.
then came back diagnosed as CATS (California Emissions Would like to by pass this if possible) California emissions CAT is 1,200.
Replace one CAT (Long story Was hospitalized and my brother had it done even though I told him to do both sides.)
Light went off for a year.
Engine light Came back recently. The sputtering and check engine were narrowed down to misfires on 1.3 Exhaust gasket manifold leak. Cat code.
Decided to start with he gasket. truck passed muster but light back on and sputtering still continues. Leak down test performed . 1 and 3 are showing 15% loss. technician seems to believe the exhaust valves or seats are cracked.
If I attempt to replace the valves ,buying all the WYAIT parts as I go, it looks cheaper to buy a replacement engine.
