Released the parking break on my 2001 Dakota the other day and now the handle does not return. Found a metal wire or part of a spring laying on the floor. What has broken? The brake still releases when the handle is pulled it is just the handle does not return back up.

 

.. then it can clearly be get that the main issue is the handle causing trouble
