Default Calling out you 2004 dakota owners

Well ill start off by saying i owned a 99 dakota single cab 4x4 3.9.

I would say the truck was dependable but i shouldnt have gotten a single cab, way to small. They i started to have trans problems around 115k, eventually selling my dakota. I miss it.

Im asking you guys who own the 04 model. it has a different engine, so diff trans right?

is model have some of the problems as the earlier 2nd gens? If i could i would get a 04 quad cab standard trans so I wouldnt have that bs trans problems, but if i have to ill get an auto

Thanks

Pretty much like any dodge it likes eating ball joints and the autos suck. There are ways to make an auto stronger. Yes it costs some money but having a tranny that will most likely outlast the body of the truck is worth spending for. Now I've never saw a manual quad cab. I know they exist but I personally never saw one so I would assume they are rare

Yep, my 99 dakota needed all new ball joints, and the trans needed a rear main seal. I never flushed the trans in fear or totally ruining it now. What ways are there to make an auto trans stronger besides a rebuild?

I saw one stick quad cab last week on craigslist it was beautiful if i had the money now i would have scooped it up

Actually I forgot the trannys behind the 3.7/4.7 are stronger than previous versions of the 42,44 and 46re trans. You can do the sonnax line booster and tmr mod which allows them to do a firmer shift.

How much approx you think a shop would charge to do tmr mod or sonnax line booster?

You can do it yourself for under a 100.00 I believe. Not too hard to do.
