Default idle step up.

i have a 01 V6 3.9 auto trans club cab, posi 4.1 gear. MR.Gasket air cleaner #1487 9" dia. stock throttle body. i have a factory paper service manual. i would like to set up a rig to step the idle up by 200-400- RPM. with fine control. a idle speed control like in the old days, from the cab? or IC chip like 74ls164 serial shift register, with a stepping motor? use the stock computer? any other ideas? thanks

I don't think the computer would like it, but you could try modulating the IAC with an external control. Could do similar with the cruise control, but would probably be harder to do.

Could also rig up a high-torque servo to press against the throttle arm and crack it open.

Whatever you try the PCM would keep trying to adjust back to OEM spec its very good at it. The PCM will fight you constantly

I had a high idle problem last month by a bad TPC it was sticking new TPC no more problem

Be warned my mpg suffered also as the TPC was always off

I would also think trying to force the idle higher the IAC may get cooked constantly trying to adjust the idle back to spec.

That as why I said to alter the idle using the IAC or by cracking the throttle blades using the cruise control module or a servo on the throttle arm.
