there should be plastic covering them…I'd say there's at least 1/16 to 3/32 of plastic scraped off the sensor….

I don't think there's supposed to be plastic over them. If you look up replacement ones online they don't have plastic over them either. It just looks like the rubbing squished some of the metal from one pickup onto the other one.

I tested that sensor out of the vehicle today,i plugged it in and backprobed the signal wire,I get 5 volts when I excite it with a screw driver, but,I noticed you have to be very, very close!! or no signal, and if you touch it,also no signal..you guys think with the sensor being shaved down that it is loosing its signal on some of those windows???

mine didn't have any metal…didn't even have the 2 holes. Completely solid plastic on the end. It's a NAPA piece

listen go down to the parts store get a new crank sensor because that one is ****ed. put it in make sure its not touching anything as your rotate the crank but the lower front drive belt (might need two people to so one can watch and the other crank.) if nothing is touching the sensor fire her up and see what happens?

ok,I replaced the plugs and CPS and it fired right up,ran decent, but, got a p1391(if I remember right) its said cps intermitantly loosing signal..so I went back under and looked at the reluctor windows on the flexplate,I did end up hammering a bend out of one of the windows(this was caused by me using a screwdriver to rotate the crank when I did my oil pump) but,it does run now and no codes! but,it still don't act right!it,backfires when going heavy on the throttle, the tack kinda floats around also, acting weird, another thing to mention is I bought the cheap advanced auto CPS,im gonna try the old CPS in it tomorrow, see if theres a any change...oh,and I did do a a live signal test with the new sensor,i got 5 volts at each window on the flexplate..
