What coolant do I use? green or red?
About 6 months ago , I bought a 2002 Quad Cab , it was hard to tell what color / kind of coolant it had by looking into the overfill tank. I removed the cap in the rad. hose and confirmed I had red.

just get a coolant Flush and throw some red in.The only real diffrences is reds better then green its lasts longer then green but more expensive but hey its your baby nothings to good for except maybe premim gas at 5 bucks a gallon haha.
Thanks for the replies. I figured it out over the weekend, I do have red. I done all the regular maintenance and was checking the freezing point of my coolant, and that's when I saw I had red.
So anyway that kind of leads to one more question. Do I use the Dexcool? I thought that was just for GM vehicles.
This is one fine ride, I just want to make sure I put it in what is supposed to be in it.
I have always had Fords, so I don't know my Dodge's.
Thanks again.

The only real difference between the red and green is red is more economical freindly and as for motor wise the red dosent get a magnetic charge. the green when it goes bad will have a voltage reading. the red will still go bad but when it does not as bad for the motor. To check to see if the green is bad take a volt reader. ground it to the truck and put the possitive into the antifreez if it gives of a voltage reading i would change it.
another thing to mention is with the "red" looks orange to me, make sure you use distilled water. I had to drain mine almost 1 year after doing a repair and I used tap water with the red stuff and I had sludge building up on the spring inside the NEW lower hose. did some investigating and found that distilled water is the way to go.
