1997 Dakota 2wd Squeaking
I'm 16, I just bought my first truck (a Dodge of course) and something in it is squeaking. I cant seem to find what it is. It starts squeaking when I start it and when we are stopped at a stop light for more than like 5 minutes, it stops but as soon as I step on the gas, it starts squeaking again. Its a 97' 2wd v8 dodge Dakota with 200,000 miles on it and I'm just a 16 year old girl with no clue! Oh, and I've already replaced the fan belt but that didn't seem to help either. And I have no clue what else to do. I'd love some opinions. Thanks guys!

Sounds like one of the pulleys that the belt runs on, water pump, alternator, power steering, idler, tensioner. Any of them will cause "belt noise". Grab a wooden stick and with the truck running, put the stick on each component. Then listen on the other end of the stick by putting your ear to it. The stick will amplify the noise, much like a stethoscope.
