Default Weatherstripping Adhesive

My passenger side quarter window is leaking pretty bad and I don't want to pay $50+ to get a new seal. I want to glue the old seal in place but I need advice on what I should use. I hate 3M weatherstrip adhesive because it is so messy so I was wondering if I could use Permatex RTV.

I would go with some silicone or acrylic caulking before using permatex.

I sealed the hard to onto my Jeep Wrangler with cheap clear silicone. It ran it for a few summers without a leak.

I have also seen black acrylic caulking used to seal a leaking sunroof closed before. No leaks after 4 years.

I have no idea if RTV will shrink as it dries, or if it will shrink and expand over time as it gets cold in the winter and hot in the summer. It might be fine, but something that was designed to be used as a sealant in all kinds of weather would be my first pick.

I already did it with RTV. If I have to re do it again I will use clear silicone caulk.

I'm sure you'll still be just fine...
