is it legal to change from a 3.9 to a larger engine? ive been wondering about that and when i was given the suggestion i thought i might ask around any one here know?

It's perfectly legal to upgrade the engine as long as the engine was available in that vehicle and meets the emissions requirements for the vehicle, iirc. Check with your local laws though.
