Offset question

How far will 17x8 wheels with +12 offset stick out? Will the factory fender flares cover them?

I'm almost sure that the stock wheel offset for a 2001 Dakota 16" x 8" wheel is 25mm.
So a 17" x 8" wheel with an offset of 12mm will stick out 1/2" further than a stock 8" wide wheel.
