Recently bought this '01 4x4 Quad Cab 4.7L 5-speed with a 5" lift and 12.5 x 35 tires on American Racing wheels. Took it for inspection today and it failed for because of tire rub on the frame.
What are my best options for eliminating the problem?
Will 33" tires fix it? The current tires still have some life left and I hate to spend the money before I have to.

 

If you just need to pass inspection, got a friend with same bolt pattern wheels you can swap with just until you get it to pass? Other option is wheel spacers.

 

Yep, tire on frame would dictate a need for wheel spacers...

 

Ok new to wheel spacers. What size do you think I might need, and what are the good ones?

 

I bought mine off ebay. You'll have to measure to see what size you need but probably 1.5" will work. But it also depends if they will allow spacers. Some places are picky and if you live in an area where they get their panties in a wad over a little frame rub, it might be illegal to run spacers too.

 

Hopefully all that combinded lift the wheel spaceers dont cause your tire to rub the body like mine did , typically will increase - offset causing the tire to rub on the body just like when i put my 32" tires on with -26 offset rims..

I'd get some cheap rims and tires and put them on for inspection.. then take them off once done and passed if you intend to keep those size tires.. there's not enough funny they even check that .. here in Texas they dont even check.. just make sure your OBDII is working and the horn works lol
