Some dielectric grease on the contacts would probably prevent that thing from seizing up again. Mine has the opposite problem. It's a very light touch to switch it between settings, too light.

Yep, I was looking for a thread exactly like yours when entering search terms. Alas, no luck. Sounds like my problem to a tee.

Did you have any more problems after you did all that?

I seen the black gunk on the switch contacts on your thread, but attributed that to the plastic melties dribbling down from the control panel connection from my own current problem. Now you have me thinking I'd better check the contacts of the used control panel I just installed just to be safe.

01SilverCC made a good point in mentioning that the demise of the switch could have been do to a underlying problem of possibly a bad resistor or fan motor , or a short someplace which made sense to me. Was figuring on taking my multi-meter out tomorrow and doing some testing. But, maybe like you, I might have had just crappy contact problems on the switch itself.

Guess it doesn't hurt to check all of the above, just in case.

The same reason why anybody buys used. The high price. I can buy multiples and still come out way ahead. Also can buy used with warranty.

The reason I say get new is this on my 98 Dak you cant even get that controller anymore they don't make it only controllers they have doesn't include any A/C settings just heat and fan.

I wish I could get my hands on a new controller I prefer new always.
