I second 98Dakaz on the ACDelco part. A swap at AutoZone will be about the same, and I'm not sold on the quality of work from AZ, Advance, or O'Reilly's sources for reman'ed parts.

It already has the high output 136 amp alternator. I did find a place in town that will rebuild it for about $50 and warranty it for 1 year. I'm going to take it in tomorrow after work.
A year new will last about 12 years??
I tried rebuilt many many years back most didn't last even one year so I ditched rebuilt parts ASAP I don't like swapping parts out constantly.

Well, the guy I've used for decades - he's done about twelve units (starters and alternators) over the years, and I have had one (!!) call back.
Well, two, if you count the time I burned out a started trying to move a dead '63 Chevy on it ... But that wasn't HIS fault!

The guy I took it to replaced the rectifier and the brushes. So far it seems to have worked, drove it around for awhile and it never budged from where it is supposed to be running at. I'll find out for sure in the next few days. Thank you guys for your help, I appreciate it.
