I read the installation manual for your Audiovox system online, it really is a simple alarm and should not be too much trouble to install. You do not have to connect the parking lights, horn/siren output, door trigger input or even the dome light supervision for the system to work. I will say that the horn and parking light outputs are useful though because they provide a visual and audio confirmation of whether the truck is locked or unlocked. Dome light supervision is nice too, especially when walking up to the truck at night or when you turn off the ignition before getting out of the truck at night. I believe the factory keyless entry has dome light supervision too.

That Audiovox system is about easy to install as keyless entry systems get. You could just connect constant and ignition 12 volts, ground and the door lock outputs and not have to worry with the rest of it. You do have to wire in a relay for lock and another relay for unlock because the negative door lock/unlock outputs from the alarm do not supply enough negative current to activate the factory power lock system.

The good thing about that Audiovox is the door lock outputs can be negative or positive, so if you use the positive output configuration it is super simple to wire the relays for negative output. Terminal 85 and 87 on both relays would connect to ground, terminal 86 would connect to the respective positive door lock output wire from the keyless unit and terminal 30 on each relay connects to one leg of its respective resistor. Then twist the remaining legs of the resistors together and connect both of them to the white/green lock-unlock wire in the truck.

Yes, I can hook up the + side and the - side of the audiovox with no problem. It is the rest I'm having difficulty with. I think I had found the lock unlock wire on the 16 pin connector. pin 10? Also What about the rest of the install, cut them loose from the connector or just tie in?
I'm not for sure if i'm supposed to cut it loose from connection or not. Is there things I need to buy? I can read a multi meter. I can follow a wiring diagram when it is something like this . cut yellow from the 16 pin connector, connect it to the green on the audiovox lock connector. Anyway that is just an example of my limited abilities. What I know about this type of installs would fit in a thimble. I have been looking for a wiring schematic but all i can find is for a durango. If I can't do this on my own, I'll have to bit the bullet and take it to a dealership. I would really hate to do that.

Don't take it to a dealer, they will just sub it out to an installation shop and charge you double what the shop would charge if you took it in yourself. If you have limited knowledge of alarm installation it may be best to just find a good car audio/alarm shop and have them install it for you. You can ask friends and colleagues if they know of a good shop, look on Facebook and check Yelp reviews too. If you have a Best Buy near you they may install it for you as well. I don't know what their policies are nowadays, they may not be able to do it if you did not buy it there.

The good thing about having a shop do it is the guys who are any good will give you a lifetime warranty on the labor so if something goes wrong they will check it for free and fix it for free if it was their error. One other thing you could do is visit www.directed.com and find an authorized Viper dealer in your area. Viper is the best alarm and keyless entry system you can buy and their installers are usually certified and very good at what they do. I have no idea what labor rates are where you live but any good alarm installer should be happy to have the work and be glad to install your system for you. Just do your homework on the shop before you hand over your keys and you should be fine.

Update! I went to a locksmith! The Remote now works! Just so you know, it took him all of about 5 min to get the thing working. The cost was 40 bucks.
I was going to take it to the dealer get get it programmed, but every time I called to set up an appointment it went to voice mail, twice i tried. Dealership service in this area sucks. When I bought my wife's new car, I went up the road away from hereto get it.
I did try a 24 hour locksmith. I got an outrageous price. It started out 29.95 for a service call. Then an estimate of maybe, 200,300, 400 dollars. I said no thanks, I got a call back from them with an said they could do it for 245, I said no thanks. then I get another call back from them with a quote of 180. I said no thanks, I had found someone else to program it. They asked if I would tell them the cost, I told them 20 to 40 bucks. They hung up. You have to watch out, some people will rip you off. This was a top ad on a google search of the area.

Just one more question. Can the audiovox remotes be programmed or are they proprietory to the kit? I tried yesterday but couldn't get them to program. I'm just trying to find out if they can be programed or not, and if its me just not doing it correctly.

I'm done now..

Glad to know it is fixed. Your ctm must have somehow lost its programming and would not recognize the remote fob. Since the ctm looked like it was new inside I wonder if maybe the previous owner swapped out the battery or even had ctm problems himself and put in a new ctm but never had the keyless fob programming done.

You have to use the OEM Dodge remote fob with the OEM keyless, your Audiovox remote only works with Audiovox systems. If you need another fob you might look on Amazon or Ebay. Those will be your best bet for a good price on a new fob. Maybe your locksmith would program the new remote for cheap.

I just ordered one on amazon, 13.85 with free shipping. That can't be beat.
A few years ago I went to the ford dealer to get one for the truck I had. 60 plus tax.
I figured the audiovox stuff was prohibitory, anyway it was worth a shot.
As I get older I am slowly getting wiser, maybe not smarter, but wiser..!
I hope this thread helps someone in the future was the same kind of issues...

Well I am glad to know the new fob is working too. I am very sorry I gave you wrong info about the dealer being the only place to program the fobs. All I have ever read here and in my Dakota Factory Service Manual and elsewhere online says the dealer is the only place that can do it. Now I know different and maybe anyone else with the same problem will run across this thread and get a locksmith to fix their keyless for cheap too. I still think maybe the previous owner of your truck had the CTM replaced at some point and never got the fobs programmed.
