Default fan belt keeps wearing

I have an 04 Dakota 6 cylinder.i recently replaced the fan belt, and now 3 weeks later am replacing it again.it looks like it is sliding to the back, rubbing against the idle pulley.each time I loosen it and put it center and run it,it keeps sliding back.looks like something is out of line but I can't see what it is.any suggestions?? thanks

I had a similar problem back when I first bought my truck. The belt squalled like a banshee and kept slinging off. A new belt did not fix it. The problem was the tensioner. The tensioner pulley was somehow slightly out of line. I replaced both the tensioner and belt with new parts from Napa and never had the problem again. If you replace your tensioner be sure the new one is an exact match to the old one. I first bought one at Auto Zone and it still kept slinging the belt off. Then I realized the Autozone one was not the same as the original and the geometry of the belt and pulleys was still off. The Napa tensioner is one of only two that I have found that is an exact match to OEM. Rockauto.com also sells one if you have time to wait for shipping.

+1 on the tensioner; not enough tension is being held allowing it to come off.. I had a dayco tens. on my truck kept having problems and it had a twitch about it.. put one more like factory on there and its back to normal no more twitch (or the sound there of rattling)...

moparonline has mopar (OEM) for about 60 bucks its worth it IMO as many times as ive had to swap the pully or the tensionor with aftermarket ones...
