Thanks for all the info. Now it makes sense. Looks like I'll need more pistons, but I guess it's not really a surprise. I understand better now. I'll see what the engine shop says tomorrow about the block. I've looked at reman engines numerous times and the 4.7L is never cheap and I've spoken to Jasper before on another project, so I just decided to put some sweat equity into my truck and rebuild. Rebuilt other engines, but I weigh the cost of reman vs my time and parts (I work for pretty cheap). Thanks.

The 4.7 is a complicated engine I would not want to R/R that thing at all older engines were easy to rebuild and more forgiving not the 4.7.


Most 2002 and up engines are complicated and require attention to detail older engines were almost over simple to rebuild and hard to F-up.
