High Idle upon Startup ??
98 with 3.9.
I went to start up the truck yesterday.... started right up and the engine immediately high rev'd to around 2,000 RPM and stay there.
I flicked the gas pedal a few times and the RPMs went right back to 2,000 and stayed there.
Outside temp was around 20 F or so at the time.
What would cause this to happen ?
TIA

A vacuum leak somewhere.
My Malibu did that until I replaced the PCV line (the grommet into the upper intake had rotted, so it would suck air like nobody's business.
Or a stuck IAC valve (another way of creating a vacuum leak.)
I'd check the IAC and clean its passages FIRST, then also walk all the vacuum lines to see if one's broken.
Also, make sure that the throttle / cruise control cables aren't binding.

I replace the IAC this past fall, so it "should" be ok. Perhaps it just got frozen into position. I'll have to look everything over again. Gotta wait until it warms up outside though! Lol !
Heh. If it's icing up at the IAC, it may not act up when it's warm outside.
But I roger the "wait until it warms up".
I've been called a shade tree mechanic, little do people know that I don't even have the shade tree! *grins*
If I were to win the Powerball or Megamillions, my new house would have a heated/cooled garage with both an oil change pit and a pair of lifts. And a paint booth. And probably at least six or eight bays for the work-on-stuff garage *grins*

Think big. You'd just have the butler take it to the Maserati dealership. LOL
