Hey Guys,

So, My '04 Dakota 3.7 has had the dash lights go out one by one over the past year or so. Pretty sure its a simple bulb issue. Now its to the point where all my A/C Heat, Fan are out as well as my whole instrument panel with exception to my speedometer currently. I have been trying to find what size bulbs I need to replace the entire lot of them at once. I was thinking of upgrading them to LEDs since I see a lot of them on Amazon for very little money but don't want to buy unless I have some reasonable certainty of what I need. Found a step by step replacement guide for a Ram, so I'm good with the procedure, just need the bulb sizes if anyone can help. I've seen a lot of these bulbs go by sizes like T5, T4, T10 etc...
Ive seen
these on Amazon, just not sure if they would work. these on Amazon, just not sure if they would work.
If anyone has any suggestions, I would be very grateful. Thanks in advance guys.

Sylvania doesn't list a replacement, so it's probably going to have to be either someone with the same cluster says "It's XXX", or you'll have to pull the cluster and look.

Yeah, I couldn't find cluster bulbs through Sylvania or superbright LED's....its not one of those vacuum fluorescent things like on the 3rd gen Dakotas, is it?

So,

I kicked it old school and found the bulb numbers for the A/c Controls which is 74 and the instrument cluster which is 194... I then found on amazon aftermarket LEDs that are designed to match the socket for those bulb numbers. I will be sure to update the thread if I have ordered the correct bulbs. Luckily, my total order was like $19 for more then enough bulbs to get this job done, so even if i was mistaken it is a low risk buy this time. So, either way, I pull the cluster and if I am right, then great, and if not, then at least I will have the original bulbs to go by.

Truck has 138,000 miles so every little upgrade and repair helps me fall in love over again. Thanks again Ralph and JKeaton

Just remember, LEDs are polarized. If at all possible, have the cluster connected as you test them.

Also, did you order new twist bases for them?

T5 neo wedge led bulb
I used T5 neo wedge led bulbs from eBay. Came with twist base and bulb all in one piece.

I did order the new twist bases as well. It was only a couple bucks more...Although I have seen guys use the original twist bases by removing the old bulb and replacing it with the LED. I think I am gonna try to use the new ones first, and only go to bulb surgery if I absolutely need to.

Tspeed...I ordered very similar ones off of amazon. How does yours work now? No issues? Any advice on undertaking this project?

Quick Update..

All the LEDs I ordered worked just fine! A bit of a pain to have to keep changing the bulb position to get the polarity right, so I just kept the light switch installed so I could keep trying the bulbs until I got them all working. Looks great now and nice to be able to see my instrument cluster again, only this time its Blue! Nice change of pace from the Original green! Thanks for all the help guys!
