Default Bed Sizes

I have a 1998 Dodge Dakota regular cab short box. I found a used canopy for it off of a 99 Dakota extended cab short box. My question is, are the box's the same length? I know on my 87 Mazda short box, the extend cab short box was shorter than a regular cab short box.

dodge only has 3 bed sizes. shortbed (6.6'), long bed (7') and useless bed (5.5').

Short beds are on reg cabs and all ext cabs (long bed isnt an option from my understanding on them).

long beds are only available in reg cab.

useless beds are on quad cabs (4 dr).

So you should be able to use that canopy.

Not that it matters here, but I'm pretty certain that early in the second generation you could get an 8 foot bed with the regular cab.

Actually now to think of it, I think the long beds were 8'. (they are just not common around here.)
