Default Possible new owner ( questions :) )

Hi all, Found a pretty good deal on a 04 dakota. I have not had a chance to own a truck yet, and I am finding that I now need a truck for a lot of things in life.
Anyways, 04 Dakota with roughly 70,000 miles. Really clean truck, 4.7 engine , 4wd, and auto. After doing some research i've come to learn that the 4.7 is a reliable engine. I have a friend who owns a dakota with the 5.2 and he tells me that they don't have reliable trannys. Do these trucks have a tendency to blow trannys in the automatics?

I know the 5.9 cummins get a hard time on automatics. I've seen several cummins with rebuilt or blown transmissions, but what about these 4.7 auto's?

Thanks all!

My bud has an 04 Dakota and has 240,000km on her and never had a problem with the tranny. Also take for a fact that also every second day we go mudding and or stupid ****. only things you gotta watch out for is blown head gaskets and exhausts leaks. I myself got a 2000 Dakota and I have a blown head gasket and an exhaust leak but she still runs like a beast and hits the back roads like monster. If your Dakota has only 70,000 I would worry about anything serious, just check the frame, the engine, and listen to the exhaust. as long as you take good care of her she'll last you a long time bud
