Default stub shaft removal

Hello! I am getting a grinding/clicking noise from my drivers side front wheel area and am pretty sure I need to replace the bearing in the front differential. I have tried multiple times to brute-force the stub-shaft from the differential but was wondering if there is a special tool that I should be using instead.

Any help would be great as I have tried removing the stub-shaft a couple of times now but the c-clip (I think that it's just a c-clip) wont shrink enough to allow me to remove the stub-shaft.

03 dodge dakota 4.7 4x4 automatic.
