Transmission
Tyranny!!!! Sorry, couldn't resist. What transmission do you have now? Only asking because there are other transmissions that will fit, but not direct bolt in if, say you have an automatic and want a manual.
Also 2wd or 4wd?
You can swap in almost any tranny as far as it mounting up as the torqueflite cases were pretty much all the same. But you have to consider:
Hydraulic or electric controlled...there were two kinds designated with h or e...as 42rh or 46re.
2wd or 4wd
Torque needed....the numbers in the model designate the amount of power it can handle...a 46rh handles more than a 42rh
Bell housing size....while the mounting holes are the same some bell housings are taller than others so the tranny might not fit the tunnel.
Tail shaft length...some of the heavy duty transmissions have longer tail shafts.
3 spd or 4 spd...does it have an overdrive unit.
Probably more considerations but there you go. Best to tell us what you have and what you want to swap in.
