Rack and pinion VS steering box
Hi and thanks for this awesome forum.
I had a weird idea of asking if there is a way to get rid of this '' stupid '' steering box and replace it with a rack and pinion unit and finally remove this &?*?%?%&? end play story of the box
I do not expect to have a '' bolt-on '' issue but I am equipped with all latest welding technologies if ever needed.

Your question is loaded. The honest answer is anything can be retrofitted on any vehicle if you have the funds, the skills, and the inclination. I think the question would more be what is your problem? You have a Dakota 4 wheel drive. It isn't a Mazda Miata or a Ferrari Dino. There's lots of possible sources of trouble if the truck has enough mileage on it, unless you have expectations of too much in the first place.
THanks for the reply,
The main reason is, these Steering boxes have a bad tendancy to end-up with loose over the years and even though you replace them, after a short period of time you end up with an end-play. which is normal I do agree but as for '' rack and pinions, they don't end-up as fast with this issue.
And I was wondering if there was a '' KIT '' that was available to switch over from Box to R&P steering setup.
