Default Running without radiator shroud

Have any of you run your trucks without the fan shroud?

I've got the 4.7 which has the coolant overflow and washer fluid built into the shroud. I've removed it because I'm running the truck with no thermostat at the moment (long story, but I'm doing it for 500 miles). The truck is running cold, even without the shroud in place. The thing is, I've got the tow pkg with the large ATF cooler in front of the radiator and condenser. Just wondering if this might cause the ATF to overheat when I'm crawling in traffic or standing still.

I don't think it will change much you should notice any difference yourself just keep an eye on your temp gauge you may even run cooler without the shroud.

They help direct air flow from the cooling fan but in my opinion are more for your protection Im very happy I don't have one even with the tons of space I already have with the 2.5.

Thanks for the pic. Thats pretty much how mine looks right now, except with the mechanical fan too. I forgot to mention that it has electrical as well as mechanical fans.

Here you can see the ATF cooler... one of the reasons why I tell people to buy used trucks with tow pgk. Tranny has been well cooled and shifts well even with 265K.

Two Fans...
