Default Drive Cycle for Evaporative Sys OBD

My 2004 Dakota SLT V8 4WD threw a check engine light last week. I stupidly didn't screen shot the code, but it said very small leak check the gas cap. That wasn't unexpected because the cap seemed kind of rough. I stopped at the parts store, put a new gas cap on it and reset it. It actually didn't reset the first time so I did it twice, thinking I must have screwed up the fist time. Now almost 300 miles later, I checked the Emissions Readiness and the Evaporative Sys is still "Incomplete". Is that typical? I'd like to get it inspected soon and I don't know if having one "Incomplete" is acceptable in NH. Is there any secret to getting the Drive Time Cycle to complete itself? Thanks!

Being an 04, I am assuming 4.7L.

I don't know the exact drive cycle, but I believe it has waypoints at 30, 45, and 55 or 60 MPH. You have to sustain a certain amount of time at each speed.

Yes, it's a 4.7L.

Thanks for the reply. I'll give the steady speeds a try. I was starting to worry that something might be wrong with the computer.

there exists a tolerance but I don't know how much. Basically it has to evaluate the evap system at low, medium, and high speed. Also, the fuel tank must be between 1/4 and 3/4 as the evap system does not activate on a full or empty tank.
