Default Can't remove antenna nut

Can't seem to get the antenna nut off, it just spins. The broken part of the antenna just spins, too, so was trying to get the nut off to see what gives.

What I started with had a plastic collar covering the antenna part, you can see it at the base where it sheared off trying to loosen it. Any ideas? Thanks.

See if it has a nut holding on from inside the fender.

Heh, easier said than done. I had the inner fender off and couldn't really see up there. If I reach in from the door I can kind of feel something, but not sure how I'd actually get a tool in there to hold it. Service manual doesn't seem to show anything under there, either.

If it's spinning freely, there is something on the back side holding it.

the silver nut holding it goes 1/4" deeper into the plastic housing. I used a dremel and cut the silver nut at opposite sides then used a screwdriver to split the nut in half.
